From Reporting to Removing Barriers: Toward Transforming Accommodation Culture into Equity Culture

This reflective case study is situated at the intersection of literature on pedagogical partnership, child-parent research, and Critical Disability Studies. It presents a mother/daughter, faculty/student exploration daughter’s lived experiences navigating, as legally blind person, campus courses college designed for fully sighted students. After presenting our conceptual frameworks describing, using text video, experience navigating accommodation culture her campus, we describe semester-long partnership process through which video was created with goal moving faculty, staff, students toward equity culture. To support others in developing such projects their own campuses, draw details this to offer guidelines co-creating representations other disabilities.
